CPT 85730 is a partial thromboplastin time (PTT or aPTT), a clotting test that checks a different part of the clotting cascade from prothrombin time. It is used to monitor heparin, to investigate unexplained bleeding or bruising, and before surgery. One blood draw.

The laboratory analysis only. The blood draw is a separate small charge. It is often ordered together with prothrombin time (85610); the two are separate codes and separate prices.
